  From:M    Article type:

On September 5, Vice Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying met with the grand delegation of 2011 from Japan-China Economic Association headed by Fujio Cho, Chairman of the Japan-China Economic Association, and Hiromasa Yonekura, Chairman of the Japan Business Federation, as the superior advisor.

Mr. Fu said that, current world economy continues to recover, though slowing down with increasing uncertainties. Under this background, China-Japan relations remain steady, and China-Japan trade and economic cooperation is an important part of China-Japan strategic and mutually beneficial relations. After China-Japan bilateral trade hitting the record high of US$297.8 billion in 2010, the bilateral trade in January–July this year reached US$191.29 billion, up by 18.3%; China is Japan’s largest export market. The accumulated direct investment in China by Japanese enterprises is US$77 billion; Japan is the third largest FDI source country of China. The Japan Earthquake of this year did not shake the solid foundation of China-Japan trade and economic cooperation. And in post-quake reconstruction, the sincere feelings of going through thick and thin together between people of the two countries has been further strengthened. From now on, China would like to join hands with Japanese economic community, seize opportunities and face the future, reinforce cooperation in post-quake reconstruction and other fields, create a new situation of China-Japan trade and economic relation development, so as to contribute more to the stability and development of Asian economy and world economy.

Fujio Cho and Hiromasa Yonekura said that, currently, Japan-China mutually beneficial cooperation relations have been strengthening. The delegation’s unprecedented scale shows that the expectations of Japanese enterprises on cooperation with China on trade and economy have been further enhanced. Japanese economic community would like to further expand bilateral economic relations and reinforce mutual cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views over China’s policies on foreign capital and foreign trade and regional cooperation of East Asia at the meeting.
