2005 Jingdezhen international ceramic expo press conference was held in Beijing on August 24. Assistant Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying attended the press conference and delivered a speech.
The following is the full text of the speech:
Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,
2005 Jingdezhen international ceramic expo, which is held by Ministry of Commerce, Jiangxi government, China National Light Industry Council and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, will be held in Jingdezhen in October. The organizing committee of the expo is holding a press conference here. And I would like, on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce, to extend my warm welcome and thanks to all of you for participating in the conference.
China is famous for ceramic, which has its origin and finds its boom in China. Ceramic culture is one of the most important components of the Chinese culture. Jingdezhen has a 1700-year history of ceramic production, enjoying the good fames of capital and hometown of kaolin, and having a profound impact on the development of human being history and culture. The rich ceramic heritage in Jingdezhen incarnates the richness and deepness of the Chinese culture, and is the crystallization of art and wisdom of the Chinese people. To hold an international ceramic expo in Jingdezhen is to build an international and professional platform, so as to expand ceramic trade and to advance international exchange of ceramic culture.
With rapid development in ceramic industry and mushroom ceramic production, China has developed into a big ceramic producing and trading country. The total output of ceramic industry of the country in 2004 reached 95 million tons, accounting for 50% of the world's production. Export of ceramic products amounted to US$ 4 billion, accounting for 15% of world's ceramic trade. In particular, output and export of art and daily used ceramic rank in the first place in the world.
Ministry of Commerce will give great support and assistance to the expo, making efforts with Jiangxi government and all other relative parties, to develop Jingdezhen international ceramic expo into a ceramic trade platform with domino offect of name brand in the world. It is hoped that through the expo the ceramic industry in Jingdezhen and development of Jiangxi's economy and society will be advanced, so as to contribute to the strategy of "Rise of Central China". With excellent arrangement and great efforts, we will surely get fruitful achievements on the expo.
On behalf of the Ministry of Commerce, I express our welcome to all friends of ceramic industry circles from all countries who are going to participate in the expo, to make friends, to exchange ceramic culture, and to find business chances.
